David Grainger has been a wood turner since the mid 50's and a teacher of the craft since 1993. He can produce almost anything - from a lace bobbin to one of his speciality bowls embellished with mushrooms. David runs wood turning courses and classes and he welcomes visitors to his workshop in Kirkby Thore - though it is best to ring first. David is a regular trader at orton farmers market where he demonstrates the craft of wood turning throughout the day.

Ironcraft. Functional and decorative ironware.

Rachel and Rowland Woof design and make individual iron based gifts and garden items from a small workshop in Orton village. Their range of garden-ware includes planters, ornamental butterflies, gates, rose arches and garden furniture. All these items are galvanised to withstand the elements. Rachel and Rowland will also undertake commissions. Contact . Rowland and Rachel sell their produce at most of the markets at orton. They live in the village and Orton is the only place where you can buy their crafts.

Hollberrie. Rustic garlands, table decorations and wreaths.
Caron Baines creates her festive and original decorations with ingredients that are good enough to eat ~ cinnamon, dried oranges & chillies, crab apples & rosemary ~ interwoven with winter greenery collected from hedgerows (and gardens too, with the owners' permission!). Although her creations are much sought after at Christmas time, Caron will create decorations to celebrate any occasion.Karen lives in the village. She usually comes to the market in November and December. Although she is a member of Made in Cumbria , Orton is the only market where she sells her work..Contact

from 9.30 am to 2.30 pm. Throughout the year. Whatever the weather.
Pooley Bridge market is held on the last Sunday of the month (April to Sept) from 10.30am to 2.30pm
