Cottage Nursery. - Specialist growers of
culinary herbs.
Paul and Chris Turner provide a great range of specialist plants
for the gardener and flavours for the cook. They are specialist
growers of herbs, lavenders and ivies - this year listing 270 varieties
- including 17 types of basil, 40 varieties of mint, over 40 thymes,19
marjorams and oreganos, 26 rosemaries, 18 sages, over 100 varieties
of lavender and over 300 ivies. Paul and Chris also producer herb-maturated
extra-virgin olive oils and wine vinegars and a range of gourmet
herb-marinated olives.
Garth Cottage is a working nursery and is not open to the public
- though you can buy their oils, vinegars and herbs most months
at Orton and Pooley Bridge farmers markets (and at agricultural

Bowness
Farm - Christmas trees and holly wreaths.
Lanty and Olive Wharton make an annual appearance at Orton farmers
market with Christmas trees grown on their land near Sunbiggin
Tarn just 3 miles from Orton. They are available with or without
roots. Olive also makes holly wreaths using holly, ivy and mosses

The plants and shrubs grown at Colin
Mawson's nursery near Pooley Bridge get a
good start in life and are used to the Cumbrian
weather. Colin also prepares patio pots for
the summer months and Christmas pots, wreaths
and garlands for our December market. Colin
is a regular at Orton and Pooley Bridge farmers
